Q: What is your most memorable weather moment?

A: Standing on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana the day after Hurricane Katrina doing live reports for The Weather Channel and finding out the city of New Orleans was filling with water. It was a very sobering moment. A big weather story had just turned into a catastrophic event.

Q: If you could tell people one thing about weather, what would it be?

A: Respect it. The weather can seem so benign from day to day but when it gets bad, the destructive force is awesome. I’ve seen it first hand. I hear people say all the time, "I never thought it could get so bad!". Believe me, it can!

Q: Where are some of your favorite places to surf and hike?

A: Hiking in the Rockies is great. The southwest is some of the most stark, but beautiful landscapes you'll ever see. I have always surfed on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Q: Have you ever seen or experienced a tornado? If so, tell us about it.

A: No, but I've seen a waterspout. Very Cool!

Q: What is your favorite season and why?

A: Fall. The return of the crisp, dry, cool fall air is great after a long, hot summer. The changing of the leaves is always spectacular. Also, Pumpkin pie!!!
